Jean Doutre, o.p. Prior provincial
A new provincial for our Dominican province
The Master of the Order confirmed the postulation of fr. Jean Doutre, O.P., as Prior Provincial. Our brother accepted it and made a profession of faith on June 6that vespers.
He is 71 years of age, and has six years of profession and 45 years of priestly ordination. From 1966 to 2011 he was a religious of the Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance. At Oka Abbey, he was primarily a professor of Sacred Scripture and director of Abbey’s studium, as well as a teacher of the students. From 1984 to 1998, he was superior of the Monastery of Orangeville, Ontario. In the abbey Val Notre-Dame, he was stadium professor and prior.
The passage to the Order of friar preachers was accepted by both religious Orders in March 2011. His passage was accepted by the Master of the Order of Preachers, and was assigned to the Convent of St. Albert the Great on the 29thof September 2011, Then at the Convent of St. John the Baptist in Ottawa on the 15thof August 2012. Professor of Sacred Scripture at the Dominican University College of Ottawa and the Dominican Pastoral Institute in Montreal, he made his solemn profession on the 28thof September 2014. The Master of the Order confirmed his nomination as prior of the Saint Baptist Convent of Ottawa; fr. Jeanaccepted it on the 8thof October 2014; He has also been the pastor of the Saint John Baptist parish since the 15thof November 2017.
